I have no idea at which point of the story the other day I hit enter and sent it as it was. I only know I turned off my computer and faceplanted into my pillow at 2AM, and if you’d been here in my bedroom, I would’ve just told you the whole story in one go. Knowing both of us, I would’ve kept you up till dawn.
I think I didn’t tell you what happened on the way back from the club, and I’ll keep it short. The sunrise was unlike anything I’d ever seen: it refreshed the whole landscape, and the rain fell drop by drop from the trees in the forest. I was driving, the cousin snored on the backseat. Charlotte asked me if I was tired, and offered to drive herself. I looked at her profile - her eyes were still magnetic despite being bleary and all - and said, “As long as you keep me company, I won’t fall asleep.” Not long after that, I parked the car in front of her house. She fished out her keys and went into the hall on her tiptoes. It looked like she wanted to check on her siblings. I asked her whether I could swing by later in the afternoon, and she said yes. I left, and ever since then, it doesn’t matter what time of day it is, and I couldn’t tell you if you asked me. Everything is upside down, and the world is nothing to me.
Love, W.
